The 28th Kurzfilmtage Thalmässing will take place on 10 and 11 May 2024.
Deadline is 15 February 2024.
Our festival is an independent festival with a special cosy atmosphere. We are really pleased and honored with receiving films from all over the world – we show films out of every genre and shot in every format. Apart from a time limit (max. 15 minutes) we have one little request to your films. As we appreciate our audience a lot and we are in a way addicted to their opinion we kindly ask you to subtitle your movies in German to make sure that the dialogues are understandable and the main message does not get lost. It is really important to us that the message of the film can be caught by every viewer because at the end they will decide about the movie. That is why it counts first that people will understand your outstanding productions.
And we are sorry to mention: No red carpets in Thalmässing. BUT who needs them if they are compensated by outstanding service, wonderful and cosy atmosphere as well as an enthusiastic and passionated audience?!

Duration Your film mustn't be longer than 15 minutes.
Application copy For the selection we accept DVDs, Blue-Ray Discs or data on these media. Screening copys shown on our festival will be stored in our archive. You can also hand in your movie via vimeo- or youTube link or via other data storages. Please use our online application form.
Screening copy Unfortunately we have received less and less analog screening copies. So we only accept data as screening copy.
Notification Participants whose films are accepted will be notified by the end of April 2024.
Competition Wether the film is shown on friday (competition) or on saturday (chance of winning one of the exceptional prices of the Bavarian based "Medienzentralen", these are multiple organizations where teachers and interested people can borrow movies and other media for educational purposes) will be decided by the team of Kurzfilmtage Thalmässing.
Fees There are no fees for submitting films to Kurzfilmtage Thalmässing and no fees will be paid for screening films.
Delivery costs The charge of handing in the copys has to be covered by the applicant. Returning the screening copy will be on our charge and risk.
Deadline The application copy and the filled form should arrive here by 15 February 2024.
The small jury, that has been running the festival since 1995, decides on the copies to be shown at the festival in Thalmässing on 10/11 May 2024 (this is admittedly a rather big hurdle, but it is also the only one). If the film is accepted into the festival it also has the chance to take part in the contest.
With the prizes we don’t want to glamourise our festival, but rather show our respect for the work of the film makers i.e. you. Even if only five films can be awarded we very much appreciate the work of all applicants. Just like in the past years many of you have contributed films to this festival without asking for much in return.

3. prize: € 500 (vote of jury)
